COORDINATE
04/09 - 03/10/2026

COORDINATE brings together a body of work that unfolds as a collection of distinct realms, each inhabited by figures caught somewhere between departure and arrival. Drawing on experiences of migration, movement and the shifting position of the artist, the exhibition considers navigation not as a fixed route, but as an ongoing process of orientation through unfamiliar territories, memories and possible futures.
The works move between established elements of Pokrovskii’s practice and new approaches to making. Alongside the precisely traced lines and controlled structures that have become characteristic of his earlier paintings, the series introduces a looser handling of the image, new surfaces and sculptural elements. These subtle shifts become part of the work’s broader reflection on movement: not only between places, but within a practice as it continues to develop.
Rather than proposing a destination, Coordinate remains an open-ended question: where does the geographical journey lead, and where does the artistic one? The exhibition becomes a point of orientation within both—an attempt to locate where the artist stands now, while leaving open what might come next.
Andrei Pokrovskii (b. 1996) is an artist who lives and works in London. His paintings examine how attachment is formed between an individual and place, constructing spaces that oscillate between memory, architecture and mythology. Drawing on references that range from medieval ornament and folklore to contemporary domestic architecture and memories, his work creates environments suspended between familiarity and dream, where emotional and psychological states become spatial experiences. Often extending beyond the picture plane through subtly constructed supports and architectural interventions, his paintings emphasise the material presence of the image while blurring the boundary between the depicted space and the viewer’s own.
He studied Graphic Arts at Moscow State University of Printing Arts (2016) and Illustration at the British Higher School of Art and Design (2019). Recent solo exhibitions include Mælådy at Galeria Pelaires Cabinet, Mallorca (2025) and Sprout at Ribot Gallery, Milan (2024). Selected group exhibitions include Are you working hard or hardly working at Galerie Falk Losniza, Basel (2026); Day for Night at IRL.NYC, New York (2026); Whisper in My Ear at Osnova Gallery, Valencia (2025); Longspring at ZÉRUÌ, London (2025); Chambre d’echos at DS Galerie, Paris (2024); Occhio Furbetto at Galleria Acappella, Naples (2024); Tresspassing Threshold at ZÉRUÌ, London (2024); Prelude at MAMA Projects, New York (2024); and In Conversation: chapter 3 at Ribot Gallery, Milan (2023); amongst others.
